Der Eisendrache: Cracking the Easter Egg on a Desolation Voyage

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies throws players into a world of nightmarish proportions. Among the many maps available, Der Eisendrache stands out for its intricate Easter egg quest, leading to a thrilling boss battle and a satisfying conclusion.

This guide delves into the steps required to complete the Der Eisendrache Easter Egg, offering a roadmap for seasoned zombie slayers and newcomers alike.

Before You Begin: Preparations and Prerequisites

The Essentials:  A team of 2-4 players is recommended for this Easter Egg attempt. Each player should be comfortable navigating the map and dispatching hordes of the undead. Pack your favorite weapons, perks, and GobbleGums – you’ll need all the help you can get.

The Wrath of the Ancients:  This Easter egg heavily relies on the upgraded versions of the players’ bows – the Wrath of the Ancients.  Make sure each player acquires their respective bow variant (Fire, Wolf, Lightning, and Void) by completing the elemental bow quests scattered throughout the map. You can find numerous guides online detailing these individual bow upgrade steps.

Unleashing the Easter Egg: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Der Eisendrache Easter Egg is a multi-stage process, requiring a combination of objective completion, strategic item acquisition, and boss battles. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each step:

1. The Summoning Key and the Dragon Skulls:

Head to the Trophy Room, located near the Pack-a-Punch machine by the double doors leading to the courtyard.

Look for a purple square on the floor – perform a melee attack with your bow here to unearth a hidden urn.

This urn contains the first part of the Summoning Key.

Now comes the hunt for six scattered Dragon Skulls.  These skulls are essential to powering up the Summoning Key.  Their locations can vary slightly between games, but here are some general pointers:

Look for a skull near the broken wall between the Mule Kick Perk-a-Cola machine and the L-Car 9 wall buy.

Another skull can be found on the broken wall to the right of the Double Tap Root Beer Perk-a-Cola machine.

One skull is hidden inside a toy chest in the living quarters.

Check the box to your left as you enter the room above Double Tap containing the Wonder Sphere.

Inside the church, a skull rests on the clock above where one of the dragon head locations is. There’s another skull in the church to the right of the M8A7 wall buy.

The final skull can be found on a shelf in the building referred to as the Barracks, located on the path from the Church to the Clock Tower.

Once you’ve collected all six Dragon Skulls, approach the purple square on the floor in the Trophy Room again. Interact with it to place the skulls and complete the Summoning Key.

2. The Dragon Strike and Powering the Death Ray:

Head to the area above the Pack-a-Punch machine, next to the Death Ray control panel. You’ll see four glowing panels depicting symbols – these represent the four elemental dragons.

Remember the bow variants your team acquired earlier (Fire, Wolf, Lightning, and Void)? This is where they come into play.

Each player needs to stand on a designated pressure plate in front of the symbol panels.

Now comes the crucial part – consult the Death Ray control panel. It displays a specific elemental symbol sequence.

Each player with their respective bow variant needs to shoot the corresponding symbol on the glowing panels based on the sequence displayed on the control panel. For instance, if the sequence shows Fire-Lightning-Void, the players with those bows must shoot their elemental arrows at the respective glowing symbol panels.

If the sequence is completed correctly, one of the four spiked balls on the Death Ray will illuminate. This signifies success!

There’s a twist, though. The Death Ray control panel can sometimes display the opposite elemental sequence. In such cases, try switching the Death Ray control panel setting and repeat the symbol shooting sequence with your bows.

3. The Focusing Stone and Panzervor Hunting:

Travel to the Rocket Launch Pad area. Locate the Focusing Stone pedestal near the launchpad itself.

Interact with the pedestal to place the Summoning Key. A beam of light will erupt, revealing a hidden entrance behind the Focusing Stone.

Enter this newly opened passage and collect the Focusing Stone.

Head back to the area above the Pack-a-Punch machine. Place the Focusing Stone on the pedestal there. This activates the next stage.
