Who Are the Premier League Favourites Following the Manchester City-Arsenal Draw?

The 2024/25 Premier League season has only just begun, but we’ve already had some major matches take place. Indeed, one of those to have taken place already could be considered to be one between the two title contenders…

Manchester City have been crowned the champions in the last four seasons and will be going for their fifth in a row, despite facing a lot of off-field controversy regarding the 115 charges they have been hit with.

Arsenal have been runners-up on the last two occasions, seemingly pushing closer to the Cityzens with each campaign and reducing the gap that once existed. The Gunners are likely to be the main challengers, as the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea aren’t quite at the level of these two clubs just yet.

Man City & Arsenal Played Out an Exciting Draw

To highlight how well-matched the two clubs are, they both put on a show in their recent meeting at the Etihad Stadium. While there was no chance of the game being called off as they did not meet the Premier League match abandoned rules criteria, there were a number of fiery moments within the game.
You got a feel about what would happen straight from kick-off, as Kai Havertz went straight into Rodri within the first few seconds of the game. He knocked him off his feet, and the match became spicy straight away.

The Spaniard wouldn’t last too long, though, as he would end up going down in the Arsenal penalty box during a corner kick. It would require him to come off the pitch, and there are now fears that he will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Man City and Arsenal still played an entertaining game, with it finishing 2-2. The controversy was throughout, with Leandro Trossard being shown a second yellow for kicking the ball away before half-time. Erling Haaland was creating havoc as he and Gabriel had their moments, too. When John Stones scored the last-gasp equaliser, the Norwegian striker could be seen throwing the ball at the back of the Brazilian defender’s head with consequence.

At the final whistle, tempers flared between players, suggesting the two teams had each other rattled.

Who Will Win the 2024/25 Premier League Title?

As mentioned, it’s still very early into the 2024/25 Premier League season. It would be very difficult to try and predict who the champion will be at this stage, although that might not stop some from placing a wager on it. Those who look to try and calculate each way betting opportunities for this market as a way of hedging their bet can use an odds calculator to try and work out the best value for them.

At the moment, the bookies have Pep Guardiola’s side the slight favourites at this stage after recording the 2-2 draw at home. Mikel Arteta’s side have their own injury concerns and suspensions to contend with at the moment, which could have a costly impact on their chances of winning the league. For instance, Martin Odegaard’s injury layoff could prove to be very damaging in their quest to obtain silverware this season.
